Peace - the "Aware Ones"  take time to focus, energize, and tolerate.
Have you got time -- for a moment of peace?
It takes time. It gives energy. It promotes tolerance.

At the edge of the public road passing the Servite Sisters' home in Ladysmith Wisconsin is a "Peace Pole."

It is located on the edge of the Servite property (see sketch of OSM grounds) so as to be easily seen and invite all to come and rest in contemplation and hope. The people at the Servite Center for Life take time every Tuesday at 4:30 pm. to gather in this place to create energy for peace on  earth. They are not alone. Around the world there are 200,000 such Peace Poles from Wisconsin to Michigan, to South Africa, Sierra Leone, Italy, the North Pole, Taiwan, Egypt, Russia, Hiroshima, to the Jordan River and more -- in180 countries.

Symbols help to remind us that there is a great need to bring about peace. Often we can become discouraged and lose awareness that every human, bird, animal, and plant deserves a right to contribute to the balance of this beautiful journey on earth.  When a person sees the Peace Pole there are usually questions that follow. The questions bring the opportunity to focus live energy. Positive energy is healing. Healing promotes tolerance. Tolerance brings peace. The opposite, dominance by one or another, leads to war.

You can join, perhaps marking your home, school or neighborhood as a center for peace energy. This particular movement was started by The World Peace Prayer Society, a non-profit, member-supported, non-sectarian organization dedicated to uniting people across the globe through the universal prayer "May Peace Prevail on Earth."SCL Peace Pole dedication The poles in the U.S. are made in Northern Michigan of renewable western red cedar which has a natural resistance to decay, insects, warping, splitting or cracking.

Peace Poles can be ordered from the Peace Pole Project (231-334-4567). The poles come in various heights and four sided or six sided. There are Plexiglas Plaques attached which are printed with the names of the countries you select and the prayer "May Peace Prevail on Earth," written in that country's language.

Consider  joining this effort. It will take a little of your time and energy, both set in a positive direction. You can join, perhaps marking your home, school or neighborhood as a center for peace energy. A dedication ceremony usually accompanies the planting of a new Peace Pole. One can invite friends, dignitaries, neighbors. The results could be immense.  As an "Aware One," you care and join those who energize for peace.
